There are many solo activities in the world. Theater is not one of them!
Very little can be accomplished in the theater on your own. So we have exercises in communion.
At any point in time a character is in communion with something: be it another person, an object, the audience, the room or even themselves. Through the course of a performance the focus of a character’s communion may shift from one point to another and it’s up to the actor to establish and maintain this line.
Exercises in communion develop the actor’s ability to identify, strengthen and choose their character’s sources to commune with and within their imagined world.
